Making films was never something that was high on Hentucky’s agenda until recently. It was this realisation of Hentucky getting involved in the business of making films that has changed the face of what this whole thing is all about. To be frank, this utter epiphany has given direction and focus that would put all the floating ideas of what was HentuckyBreaks was working for into something tangible that Hentucky could finally achieve.
But isn’t the world of film is a harsh place? Watching characters like Ari Gold and Peter Dragon they paint a horribly ruthless picture of such a cut throat industry. But that is the reality of any industry, once the heat increases on it then so does the level of harshness. You have to keep on plugging away, listening to any constructive criticism thrown at you to make a project which you believe in, but also one that other people will give it the time and day for.
Like any art, vision and creative dream it’s all about taking a very personal and specific idea and turning that into reality. The realities of making any film is a hard thing to do, from writing a script to obtaining resourcing and funding can make it very hard to do. But with any drive to see that idea conceived after a few drinks, or a burning idea since you were 8 years old turn into a finished product is what Hentucky is about. We want the idea to make, to pull in various resources to bring out a quality product. From getting someone in to do art work, someone to help with lighting, a camera man helping out in their spare time… it’s about pooling together as many talented people as possible.
This doesn’t mean if you’re not ‘creative’ type you cannot get involved. Sharp critical eyes are always a positive to any project, as long as they aren’t sapping the fun out of the process but want to ensure the best product is always made is definitely a benefit to any creative idea. This may conflict with such a strict and stringent belief of how you may want a project to be made, and with heated discussions, and ability to work out ideas is conducive than destructive.
So with all that thinking aside, where the films at?
There is a big film project which is currently being worked on, with a few shorts planned directly related to this project. Details of anything directly related or inspired by the film will be included on the website.
However this little edit shows where it all started.
